Police have named the elderly woman whose body was discovered in a rest home on Tuesday morning.
She was Edith Roderique, from Otaki.
A 75-year-old man was arrested and charged with her murder. He appeared in Porirua District Court on Wednesday morning.

It's alleged he murdered Ms Roderique between the 4th and 5th of March.
He entered no plea and was remanded in custody to appear in Wellington High Court on 26th March.
Police were called to the Westgate Drive address in Raumati beach at 9.40am on Tuesday.
A forensics team was on site, and residents were told to expect a police presence at Coastal Villas Retirement Village until Friday, as a scene examination was being carried out.
