Police are searching for a missing man swept away from an Auckland beach on Thursday.
The 34-year-old man was swimming at Bethells Beach with his partner and a child when they were caught in a rip and got into difficulty.
While the woman and child were able to get safely to the shore, the man didn't make it back.
Police were called at 5:30pm, and the Police Eagle Helicopter and Search and Rescue teams have been involved in a search since.
The search will continue on Friday at Bethells Beach as well as across the wider coastline.
Police are providing the man's family with support.
