Thousands of Vodafone customers were left without internet on Saturday, leaving the company scrambling to fix it.

Website Downdetector.com said customers began reporting issues with their internet around 10:30am on Saturday.

A map of the outages shows the entire country was affected.

Vodafone told customers on Twitter it was trying to fix the problem.

"There is a known issue that is being worked on at high priority to get this rectified ASAP. We appreciate your patience, and sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused," it said.

Vodafone told customers the issue had been resolved on Saturday afternoon.

"Apologies for the inconvenience there. We're back up and running again now it seems. Let us know if you need any further help," it told a customer on Twitter.
