Two charged over Queenstown attack that left victim in a coma

Police have charged two people after an assault in Queenstown that left a man in a coma.

The attack took place on Cow Lane in the town centre, in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Two 24-year-old men have received one charge each over the incident: one for grievous bodily harm, the other for being party to grievous bodily harm.

They are both due to appear in Queenstown District Court on Monday, March 18.

Police have thanked the public for their help in making the charges.

Detective Sergeant Derek Shaw says the information provided "directly led to these arrests".

The victim of the assault is currently in Dunedin Hospital in a critical condition. NZME reports the father-to-be is in a coma.
