The death of a two-year-old girl in Maketu is being treated as suspicious by police.
Her body was found on Thursday morning on the tidal flats by police investigating "reports of disorder" in the Little Waihi area.
"Police are continuing with a scene examination, and are speaking with family and potential witnesses," said Det Snr Sgt Greg Turner.
"Police do not believe there is any ongoing risk to the community."
