The body of a male tramper has been recovered from Mt Lancelot near Arthur's Pass.
Police confirmed the man was found on Sunday at 3:35pm after an extensive search by rescue teams.
Two other trampers he was with raised the alarm on Saturday evening after he'd become separated from them.
While the body has yet to be formally identified, police believe it is the missing man.
Mt Lancelot is a 2112m mountain in the Canterbury region.
