A crash on SH1 is causing traffic to back up as Aucklanders return from the Easter break.
The crash happened between Mill Road and Ramarama and NZTA tweeted asking drivers not to rubberneck and make the situation worse.
At 5pm NZTA tweeted the congestion was starting to ease.
Elsewhere traffic is moving on SH1 through Auckland with no other reports of heavy congestion.
Earlier in the day NZTA tweeted asking drivers to take care in the rain and to drive to the conditions. They also reminded drivers to turn their headlights on.
