A firefighter is being treated for heat exhaustion after battling a blaze in a commercial building in Motueka.
The blaze broke out on High St just after 4am on Thursday.
A Fire and Emergency spokesman says firefighters are trying to remove iron to get into the ceiling.
More than 30 firefighters, seven fire trucks and water tankers are at the scene.
Roads in the area have been affected and diversions are in place on State Highway 80.
