Invercargill mayor Tim Shadbolt knighted

The country's longest serving Mayor is now one of the newest knights in the country.

For over two decades he has been at the helm of Invercargill.

It hasn't been smooth sailing.

He was once sacked back in 1995 for heading off to France to protest nuclear testing in the Pacific.

All in all, he has been arrested 33 times in political protests published a number of books, and even featured on Dancing With The Stars.

Now at the prime age of 71, he's not ready to pack it in either.

Sir Tim Shadbolt spoke to The AM Show.
