A man has been arrested and charged after a woman was left outside the Manukau Superclinic with critical injuries.

The woman needed urgent care when she was dropped off at 3pm on Tuesday, and has since been transferred to Auckland Hospital.

On Thursday, Counties Manukau Police charged a 28-year-old man with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

Detective Senior Sergeant Albie Alexander says the investigation into what happened to the woman is ongoing.

He says police are unable to comment further now that the matter is before the courts.
