A red Honda Civic has been abandoned on a west Auckland golf course after crashing while reportedly doing burnouts.

Tanya Cook-Hughes, a resident in the area, posted a photo of the car to a public Facebook group on Sunday. It shows the Honda stuck at an odd angle.

She understands the vehicle had been "tearing up the green".

"The club manager [of the golf course] came around to all the houses the day before as there had been someone on the course the previous night doing the same thing."

Cook-Hughes says the photo was taken on the morning after the offender had crashed.

"Both nights caused damage to the course, but this was the second night when they crashed," she told Newshub.
