Auckland has been thrown into traffic chaos on Monday, after a truck rolled on SH1 during rush hour.
The truck suffered a severe accident at around 4:45pm on the Northern Motorway, blocking the left lanes. Video from cameras shows kilometres of stop-start traffic trapped on the motorway.
"A truck roll has blocked two northbound lanes just before the Tristram Road off-ramp," the New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) warns. "Please pass the incident with care."
Heavy haulage vehicles and machinery are on-site and contractors and emergency services are working to clear lanes as quickly as possible.
However significant delays remain and motorists are urged to delay their journeys if possible.
