A climber is lucky to have escaped serious injury after falling 15 metres down a crevasse on Mt Ruapehu.
Police say they received a distress call from a mountaineering group on Saturday at 2:40pm when one of the group fell on the Whangaehu Glacier.
The climbers couldn't see the woman, in her 20s, but could talk with her.
