The Government has set aside funding to cope with the aftermath of the terror attacks in Christchurch.
The gun buyback scheme has received $168 million, with $150 million for purchasing the guns and $18 million to pay for the collection of them.
In April, police minister Stuart Nash told Newshub the buyback scheme would go on, even if it cost $1 billion.

The country's two main spy agencies have also been given a $50 million funding boost as a probe continues into whether they could have stopped the attacks.
The money will go to the Government Communications Security Bureau and the Security Intelligence Service.
An extra $5 million has also been allocated for mental health support for the Christchurch community.
In the wake of the Christchurch terror attack, crowdfunding campaigns raised close to $10.75 million for the victims of the attacks.
