Man shoves shop attendant to ground in Christchurch dairy robbery

Shocking CCTV footage shows a man knocking a shop attendant over before robbing cigarettes from a Christchurch dairy on Sunday.

Police say the aggravated robbery happened at a dairy on Lincoln Rd about 12:35pm on Sunday.

The man fled the scene, believed to be heading south on Lincoln Rd.

His actions have been condemned by the community, one woman calling him a "low life".

"Hope he gets caught but doubt the jerk will change his ways," she commented.

Police say the shop attendant was shaken and is being offered support.

"He [the offender] was wearing a dark-coloured wind-breaker jacket with the hood up, dark-coloured trousers and black shoes," a statement said. "He is believed to be between 20-30 years old.

"Anyone who was in the area at the time or has any information is asked to contact Christchurch Police on 03 3637400."
