One person was killed and several hurt in a crash late on Thursday night in the Far North.
Police were called to the accident on State Highway 1, near Old Valley Rd in Okaihau, around 10pm.
One person died at the scene, and four others were moderately injured.
The road was closed. The serious crash unit is investigating.
The road toll so far this year stands at 147, about 11 more than last year at the same time.
