Three people were killed in a crash south of Taupō on Saturday morning.
State Highway 1 is closed at Hatepe after a truck and van collided at 4:15am.
Another person was taken to Taupō Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Motorists should expect delays in the area.
It follows a horror crash north of Taupō last weekend which left eight people dead - including five children.
