A large blaze has broken out at a car panel storage facility in Mt Maunganui.
Police are advising motorists to take care on Waimarie St, near Hewlett's Rd. There is a "significant amount of smoke in the area" they said in a statement.
Thirteen fire crews are fighting the "well-involved" fire, which measures about 100m by 100m. It began just after 9am.
The blaze has affected two sheds, Fire and Emergency said. Firefighters have gained entry to one and have it under control. They're still working to gain entry to the second.
Units are being sent from as far away as Hamilton.
