Police are responding to reports of a gun being fired in Christchurch on Friday morning at roughly 7am.
The armed offenders squad is on the scene at Avonside Drive as a precaution, but police say there have been no injuries.
They are speaking to witnesses and making enquiries to determine what happened.
Cordons have now been lifted.
