A fire that saw Auckland's central police station evacuated on Friday night is no longer being treated as suspicious.
Blazes in an administration block next to the main building broke out just after 11pm. Fifteen fire engines attended, Fire and Emergency told Newshub.
"At this stage we're treating the fire as suspicious, and we're waiting for our fire investigators to arrive and try and determine what caused this fire," area commander John Booth said late on Friday night.
It's believed the two-storey concrete building doesn't have sprinklers installed, but did have smoke alarms. The "couple of seats" of fire broke out in the prosecutions area.
Booth said police found themselves in the rare situation of having to call 111 themselves.
"There was a lot of smoke coming out of the building."
The fire is now out, and fans are being used to clear the remaining smoke out of the building.
Police said on Saturday they were no longer treating it as suspicious.
"The office area in which the fire was located sustained extensive damage and staff will be relocated," said Supt Karyn Malthus.
"The main station is unaffected and continuing policing business as normal."
No prisoners are held at the facility.
