Bay of Plenty police investigate after thieves rip ATM out of wall

Police have launched an investigation after an ATM was ripped from a wall in Murupara.

In the early hours of Monday morning a front end loader was stolen and used to wrench the ATM out of the building on Pine Drive.

The offenders then loaded the machine on to a trailer, and fled the scene, towing the ATM behind them.

Both the trailer and ATM were located in the Kaingaroa Forest just before 4am.

Although the trailer was significantly damaged, the ATM was still secure.

Inquiries into the burglary are ongoing and police are seeking information from anyone who has information relating to the theft.
