Wellington's Mt Victoria tunnel has been closed in both directions following a crash.
The single-vehicle crash happened just after 6am, police say one person may be trapped in the vehicle but it is not known if they are injured.
Wellington motorists are being told to avoid the area and expect delays.
"Due to a crash on Paterson St, the tunnel is CLOSED in both directions. Please use an alternate route via Newtown or Harbour Bays and expect DELAYS."
