Eleven people, some of them gang members, have been arrested in a Palmerston North methamphetamine bust.

Police searched several addresses on Wednesday and seized items such as meth, a firearm, ammunition and a taser.

Six men, aged 51, 48, 47, 43, 35 and 24 and five women, aged 47, 45, 42, 30, and 28 were arrested. Some of the group were members of the Palmerston North-based Nomad gang, one was the vice president.

The group faces more than 60 charges and appeared in the Palmerston North District Court on Wednesday and Thursday.

Eight members of the group were remanded in custody and will appear in court in July.

Detective Sergeant Johnny Oram from the Manawatu Organised Crime Unit said further arrests were likely.

"Gangs and Methamphetamine go hand-in-hand, and the harm they cause to the community is substantial.

"We want to be clear that Police are determined to reduce their influence over the vulnerable members of society that they prey on and profit from."

The operation into the sale and distribution of methamphetamine in the Palmerston North area has been running since February.
