A man has been charged after a fatal collision between a car and a cyclist in Auckland last month.

Emergency services were called to Queen St in the CBD at 2:30am on May 26. A silver Honda had crashed into a cyclist opposite Myers Park.

The cyclist, 59-year-old Geoffrey Arthur Burridge, was transported to Auckland Hospital but later died of his injuries.

Police say they've now charged a 30-year-old man with excess breath alcohol causing death.

He's due to appear on the Auckland District Court on Wednesday, a statement released on Friday said.
