The prisoner who escaped from a Palmerston North Hospital is back in police custody.
Corrections and police were working together to locate a prisoner who escaped from a Palmerston North hospital.
He escaped at 10pm on Tuesday.
The man had been taken to hospital for assessment and treatment of a health condition when he slipped away from corrections staff.
Corrections say the man was in custody on charges of burglary and breaching his release conditions.

He will likely be charged with escaping custody which carries a maximum sentence of five years.
Corrections are carrying out a full investigation into the circumstances which led to his escape.
