Two men have been arrested by Queenstown and Wanaka Police following a search warrant at a Lake Hawea property.

Police seized two firearms, $3700 in cash and two ounces of MDMA with an estimated value of $17,000.

Ten mature cannabis plants were also seized.

"A 29-year-old man has been charged with possession of MDMA for supply and a 28-year-old man has been charged with cultivating cannabis," says Detective Senior Sergeant Malcolm Inglis.

Police executed the warrant on Wednesday with the help of a customs dog.

The 29-year-old is set to appear in Queenstown District Court on June 27, while the other man is due to appear on July 1.

Queenstown has been hit by a sharp increase in gang activity and methamphetamine, with an increased demand for the drug. The city has also been subjected to a rise in associated burglaries and thefts.

Otago Lakes Central Police seized over $200,000 of methamphetamine in Queenstown earlier in June. Two men, aged 33 and 36, were arrested and face drug-related charges.
