A puppy was rescued from an upside down vehicle in Warkworth's Dome Valley on Sunday morning after the car careered off the road and rolled down a bank, landing up near a creek.

Warkworth Volunteer Fire Brigade and local police responded to the incident on State Highway 1 in Dome Valley at approximately 5:30am on Sunday.

"The people got out of the car but the puppy was still left down in the vehicle," Warkworth Volunteer Fire Brigade spokesman Devan Flewellyn told Newshub.

"Police rescued the puppy and everyone was okay, other than a bit cold."

A police spokesperson confirmed that no one was injured in the incident.

The Fire Brigade shared a snap of the chilly pup to their Facebook page and have received positive comments from social media users.

"Our world is a much better place with our volunteers, thank you all," one user commented.

"Good save, lucky pup," said another.
