A man has been charged with murder over the death of a two-year-old girl in western Bay of Plenty.
The girl's body was found at Little Waihi on March 21, triggering a police investigation.
As a result of the investigation, police said in a statement on Thursday a 37-year-old man had been charged with murder. He will appear in the Tauranga District Court on Friday.
"This was a tragic incident and we would like to thank members of the public for their assistance and cooperation during the course of this investigation," Detective Sergeant Louise Curragh said.
"As the matter is now before the court police will be making no further comment."
