A man has been arrested after several aggravated robberies in Auckland over the weekend.

The series of aggravated robberies began on Saturday morning after a commercial premise on Penrose Rd in Mount Wellington was robbed. Another in Mangere was also struck in the early hours of Sunday.

At about 12:25pm on Sunday, a man allegedly entered a Te Atatu liquor store demanding money and also allegedly stole several items valued at over $1000.

Police were also told on Monday of another aggravated robbery in New Lynn.

Detective senior sergeant Kim Libby says police believe the robberies were linked.

A 33-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday and is in custody while enquiries are ongoing. Charges are likely to be laid.

"We sympathise with the victims in these robberies and are supporting them, and we hope it can bring them some comfort to know we have made an arrest," Libby said.
