Ryan Bridge: If you care about climate change, stop having children

OPINION: This is a climate emergency - for those of you who believe in global warming, and for those of you who believe it's man-made.

The global population is about to hit 8 billion. Eight billion people.

To climate changists, this must be unacceptable. After all, the problem is not dirty dairy, it's not red meat, it's the huge demand for these products by an ever-growing population.

Here's my problem: all these sanctimonious, virtuous climate alarmists who wander around berating me for my plastic bags and petrol car are still breeding like rabbits.

And the UN says the best thing you can do to stop climate change is to have fewer children. US research has shown that a family having one fewer child creates the same level of emission reductions as 700 teenagers recycling for the rest of their lives.

The guy who is protesting outside Parliament calling for another meaningless climate change emergency to be declared, guess how many kids he has? Six kids! Hypocrite much?

Why don't the Greens have a one-child policy? Because they care more about getting elected than their climate crusade.

It's called the hypocrisy of the virtuous.
