A group has been hit by an avalanche near Aoraki/Mt Cook.
A police spokesperson told Newshub there were reports five people had been hit.
The spokesperson said one person was reportedly injured and had to be airlifted out.
A Rescue Coordination Centre spokeswoman told NZME the remaining four people were not injured.
The incident happened outside Aoraki/Mt Cook National Park, a Department of Conservation spokesman told Newshub.
Stuff reported that it happened to the east of Mt Cook - on Gammack Range.
