The human remains found in an area of scrubland in Taipa on Monday have been identified as missing woman Leeann Scott.
Scott disappeared in December 2014 after leaving her home to go for a walk.
"It has been a long four and a half years for Ms Scott's family and partner, and we hope this discovery will allow them some degree of closure," said Detective Inspector Rhys Johnston on Friday.
Police will continue to make enquiries into the circumstances of Scott's death.
