As it happened: Police reveal more details after guns stolen in wild Gore police chase

Police have provided a statement on the theft of two pistols overnight.

The police-issued Glock firearms were stolen during a serious incident on Wednesday evening.

During the incident, the offender rammed a patrol car, fled on foot for a short while, stole a different police car, rammed another patrol vehicle and then abandoned the vehicle he stole, taking the two pistols with him.

He has not been located, although police pursued another vehicle, believed to be driven by the same man, in the Ferndale area after the incident.

Police are urging Southlanders to be vigilant and if they see anyone suspicious or may have information that can assist police please contact 111 immediately, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
