Saturday night's huge $12.2 million Powerball prize remains unclaimed, leading Lotto to wonder if the lucky winner has even checked their ticket.

An Auckland player won Saturday's Powerball First Division prize after purchasing their ticket on MyLotto.

However, it's been four days since the winning numbers were announced - and the sizeable sum remains unclaimed.

A spokesperson said Lotto is unsure whether the Aucklander knows just how lucky they are, as it's not uncommon for players to take some time to check their ticket.

Saturday's jackpot was the 12th time Powerball First Division has been won this year to date, following an Aucklander's massive $16.5 million Powerball prize last month.

Saturday's draw also proved successful for three other players from Silverdale, Nelson and Dunedin, who each traded the cost of a ticket for $250,000 after winning Lotto First Division.

Powerball First Division was hit 15 times last year, making it the biggest year on record for Powerball players.
