A man remains in hospital after an alleged assault inside Upper Hutt's Rimutaka Prison late last month.
The alleged offender, a 45-year-old man, has been charged with attempted murder following the July 31 incident.

A police statement said the man is due in the Hutt Valley District Court on Tuesday.
No-one else is being sought in relation to the matter, police said.
