Pedestrian hit by vehicle on Christchurch's Deans Ave

Two people sustained serious injuries in two separate crashes in Christchurch on Tuesday afternoon.

A pedestrian was hit by a vehicle in a hotel car park on Deans Ave about 2pm.

Shortly after, a second person was injured when the vehicle they were driving crashed into a commercial building on Antigua Street, about 2:20pm.

A WorkSafe spokeswoman confirmed to Newshub it was notified of the Antigua St incident.

"We are making initial inquiries to establish what our next steps will be."

A police statement said the Serious Crash Unit has been advised of both crashes, and officials are working to determine the circumstances.
