A 66-year-old man has been hospitalised with serious facial injuries after a brutal aggravated burglary at Waikato home.

The man was attacked at a residential address in Tirohia, eastern Waikato on Friday evening. A Holden Colorado was taken from the property.

Two men were involved in the burglary, which police say occurred after their vehicle broke down nearby.

A 29-year-old Te Aroha man has been arrested and will appear at Hamilton District Court on Monday.

After appealing for help to find 22-year-old Cyphrus McCaskill, the other alleged offender, police announced on Sunday he has been caught.

"A 22-year-old man was arrested in Te Aroha this afternoon," a police spokesperson says.

"The man will appear on multiple charges at Hamilton District Court tomorrow."

Police are still seeking information on sightings of a grey 2017 Holden Colorado, registration KTY16, that was taken from the property.

"If you have any information that may assist this investigation please call Police on 105 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111," the spokesperson says.
