There will be an increased police presence in Manukau on Monday afternoon as officers will be undertaking a training exercise.

The routine training will be carried out at a central Manukau venue, leading to high numbers of officers in the area between 4:30pm and 8pm.

Members of the Armed Offenders Squad, carrying firearms, will also be in attendance.

Police say loud noises may be heard by locals during the exercise, but there is no cause for concern.

"A message to our community in Manukau... please don't be alarmed as this is a routine training exercise," Counties Manukau Police posted to their Facebook.
