The two people charged with killing Auckland teenager Dimetrius Pairama have been found guilty of her murder.

Ashley Winter and Kerry Te Amo have been on trial at the Auckland High Court since September 5. They were both charged with kidnapping the 17-year-old before brutally torturing and killing her in an abandoned state house in Mangere last year.

On Monday a jury found the pair guilty of murdering Pairama.

Early in the trial Winter had admitted kidnapping Pairama but denied murdering her. Te Amo initially pleaded not guilty to a kidnapping charge but pleaded guilty on Friday.

Pairama's body was found in a steel drum at the Mangere property on July 8 2018. Witnesses told the court the teenager, who was in Oranga Tamariki care at the time, had been severely beaten and burned with a lighter and a spray can before being hanged with a sheet.

The court heard Winter had told police two different stories in the aftermath of Pairama's death. In one interview Winter said she had nothing to do with the killing and was forced to watch her be beaten, burned and hanged by a man and two teenagers.

However in a second interview played to the court she admitted beating up Pairama because she spread rumours about her.
