Car fire causes delays on Auckland's northern motorway

Auckland's Northern Motorway has been cleared following a car fire on Monday morning.

Video footage showed a plume of smoke coming from the car, bringing passing traffic to a crawl.

The fire has now been extinguished and all lanes are clear, according to the New Zealand Transport Agency.

Earlier, the southbound lane near the Silverdale Interchange was blocked, with motorists in both directions affected by poor visibility caused by the fire.
