The man accused of allegedly indecently assaulted several women in central Auckland will continue to get name suppression after appearing in court on Monday.

On Saturday 21 September, the 35-year-old allegedly attacked a number of women across the CBD over the space of an hour-and-a-half. He was then arrested on Elliot Street.

He is accused of indecently assaulting five women, and assaulting two others with the intention of committing sexual violation.

He's also accused of entering two Queen Street properties with the intent to commit an imprisonable offence.

He was excused from attending his second appearance at the Auckland District Court on Monday because he was unwell.

"If we tried to bring him up in shackles it would upset the court," Judge Chris Sygrove said.

Continued name suppression was granted on the grounds that naming him would cause "undue hardship" and "risk his right to a fair trial".

It was also revealed he suffers from mental health issues.

"I've received a report from a doctor that says there's no doubt he suffers from significant mental health issues, including bipolar and ADD," Judge Sygrove said.

Judge Sygrove told the court he'd ordered two more reports to check if the accused was fit to plea.

He's now due to reappear in court next month.
