One person has been arrested for making multiple bomb threats against locations in Central Wellington and Lower Hutt.

Police have cleared several scenes in the area following the threats on Monday afternoon.

One person has been arrested in relation to making threats, police confirmed.

The person is said to have threatened community Corrections' staff in Lower Hutt. Officers also reportedly responded to a scene outside Parliament as well as an address in Market Grove, Lower Hutt.

"A Corrections' vehicle near Wellington Service Centre was checked and cleared by police. The Lower Hutt Service Centre was evacuated but has since been cleared," says a Corrections' spokesperson.

Adelaide Road was closed for roughly an hour between King Street and Rugby Street outside Wellington's Basin Reserve.

The road has since been re-opened.

A local worker on Adelaide Road witnessed a number of sniffer dogs arrive on the scene. She says police paid particular attention to a white station wagon.

"We assume it's all clear now and it was just a baseless threat," she told Newshub.
