Police say they are working to recover a body found in a creek in Northland.
About 1pm on Tuesday, police responded to reports a body had been found, near Allen Bell Dr in Kaitaia.
Authorities have shut off part of the street as they go about the recovery, and the death is being treated as unexplained.
Detective Inspector Rhys Johnston said the identity of the body, at this stage, is unknown.
He said inquiries are ongoing.
"A scene examination is underway," Det Insp Johnston said. "A further update will be provided when more information becomes available."
