Body recovered from Auckland's viaduct formally identified by police

The body recovered from Auckland's viaduct has been formally identified by police.

He was James Harley David Jenkins, a 24-year-old from Auckland. 

Jenkins went missing after entering the water in the early hours of October 7.

His body was recovered on Monday, a week after his disappearance. 

Police have extended their sympathies to his family and his death has been referred to the coroner.

Jenkins was seen speaking to two men before he entered the water.

Enquiries into his death are on-going. 

Police are interested in speaking to the two men seen with Jenkins shortly before his disappearance.
