A body has been recovered from the Wairoa River.
The body was inside a vehicle which came off State Highway 29 on Tuesday evening.
Police recovered the vehicle with the help of the dive squad on Wednesday afternoon.
Police are unable to confirm the identity of the deceased.
The circumstances of the crash are under investigation.
