Emergency services have been called to a chemical spill in Auckland on Tuesday.

Fire and Emergency confirmed they have three fire trucks and one hazmat group in attendance on Cryers Road, East Tamaki.

Assistant Area Commander John Booth says a worker has been hospitalised after being exposed to the unknown chemical.

Witnesses say the New Zealand Defence Force is at the scene dressed in hazmat suits.
