Firefighters dampening down hot spots after large Coromandel scrub fire

Firefighters are dampening down several hot spots after a large scrub fire in the Coromandel.

Fire and Emergency New Zealand were called to the fire off Whangamata Road and Waihi Road at 3:30pm. 

A spokesperson said eight appliances battled the large fire that stretched over 10 hectares. 

She said the fires are now contained, but four appliances remain at the scene dampening down hotspots.
