Family friends have launched a Givealittle for four-year-old Jackson White, who died in a forklift accident on Monday.

Police were called to the scene on Robinsons Rd, Prebbleton, just before 2pm on Monday. Jackson received medical attention but died at the scene.

Friends of Jackson's family say his relatives are "humble and generous members of our local community".

"Jackson was a beautiful boy and treasured member of our community and will be so missed," the Givealittle description says.

"These funds will help support the White Family through their grief."

Almost $7500 has been donated so far by more than 130 donors.

Jackson's father, Ian 'Milky' White, has been a volunteer firefighter for more than 25 years.

Two units from the Lincoln fire brigade, where White volunteers, responded to the call for help.

Fire and Emergency New Zealand commander Dave Berry told NZME it's providing support to those impacted by the event.

"We are providing support to the Lincoln Volunteer Fire Brigade including counselling and professional psychological support if required.

"Further support is also available to them and their families if they need it."
