Massive $22 million Lotto jackpot rolls over

Another week has passed with Lotto's growing jackpot going unclaimed.

The massive $22 million prize pool rolled over on Wednesday night, meaning punters will have to wait until Saturday for another chance to strike it rich.

Two people did strike Division 2, however, each netting $32,000. Meanwhile, Division 3 was won by 37 people who will all walk away with around $1200 each.

The last time someone won a jackpot of this size was in January.

At that time, a young Taranaki woman, who has remained anonymous, took home $22.3 million.

"It's been a bit of a whirlwind year — a complete rollercoaster of emotions," said the woman. "Even now, I still can't quite believe it happened!"

The prize turned out to be the perfect start to the year for the woman, who shouted her family a holiday to Europe, and also booked them in to visit Japan to watch the semis and finals of the Rugby World Cup.

"Travel is definitely a passion of mine and it's still crazy to think I could now go absolutely anywhere. We've even been able to fly business class — which is something I would have never imagined doing before," said the woman.

Although she has enjoyed having the chance to indulge her passions, she said the best part about winning was being able to help people.

"Being able to help my family has hands-down been the best thing I've done so far with the win. I really believe there is no amount of money I could ever give them to say thanks for all that they have done for me over the years," she said.

"After all, what is the point in winning such a big prize if you can't share it with the ones you love?"

She said she had put aside the bulk of her winnings for the future.
