A four-vehicle crash has blocked State Highway 56 near Palmerston North.
Two people are understood to be in a serious condition and four others have moderate injuries as a result of the accident.
The crash at Tiakitahuna, south-west of Palmerston North, was reported to emergency services at 12:25pm on Sunday.
Traffic is now flowing slowly, but motorists are advised to be aware of delays and avoid the area where possible.
